Our Projects

Ta Building Workshop specializes from a range of residential renovation, additions to complete custom residential spaces. We also specializes in the commercial sector of small commercial boutique build outs, commercial retail and office centers. 

Our main focus is its special interests in the process of identifying client needs and amplifying these unique qualities and sewing these seeds into the design process fostering ingenuity and problem solving. Clients are strongly encouraged to be an integral process in the creation of their design regardless of the size, and budget of the project. The number one objective is to achieve meaningful architecture through creating and delivering a product satisfying the necessities communicated from the client.

YEAR: 2019

A 5,500 sq ft residence located on a 3.5 acre property that is set away from the street by 150’. This luxury house carries a continuous open living, dining, kitchen space that is approximately 100’ long. The double height 22’ tall living room features wood paneling and a curving main staircase. A vaulted vestibule opens into the living room that is on an axis with a shaded back porch with estate views. Designed to entertain, the house allows for 75+ guests for large parties. The open six-car garage houses everyday vehicles and the client’s personal collection.

IDYLWOOD - HOUSTON, TEXAS

YEAR: 2019

Design for a retired postman with a future caretaker in mind. A horseshoe-shaped plan with the master suite in the rear and on the front, a living room, kitchen and dining room space. The two ends are connected by a corridor and visually linked by a planted courtyard. This home celebrates the idea of visual layers of transparency inside and out. All considerations for circulation were wheel-chair accessible. This design is dedicated to John Ziemba who passed away and did not see the project come to fruition.

VETERANS MEMORIAL, HOUSTON

YEAR: 2016

A dynamic organization of our client’s program was carefully considered to make this office’s functionality streamlined and efficient. Entering the office their customers are met with a spacious open lobby that seats about 20 people with 14’ ceilings and natural sunlight. A reception area serves as the threshold before entering the private work areas that visitors are guided to for appointments. Work flow of the spaces, circulation, and security considerations are planned for the business’s success.

This Gothic Revival wing addition seamlessly matches the context of St. John’s historic campus. The Flores Campus Center contains an impressive dining hall, classrooms, offices, a kitchen, gallery space and underground parking.

A 15-story headquarters building located in the city center with 445,000 square feet. Visitors are welcome to use the conference center on the sixth floor. On the seventh floor is a large terrace space. The ground floor public lobby space welcomes guests with a coffee bar that connects to the context of the city center.

The Bayou Bend visitor’s center serves the museum’s history and Early American Arts collections. This building allows for Bayou Bend to tell the story of philanthropist Ima Hogg and her wonderful collection of early American furniture and art. Within, visitors find meeting rooms, exhibition space, a research library and shaded outdoor balcony.

This addition for Cornell’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning (AAP) harmonized a department that was previously distributed between four separate buildings. Milstein Hall is composed of three stories that contain studio, exhibition, outdoor gathering and auditorium seating spaces.

Fertile Grounds

The ambition of Fertile Grounds is a project that can contribute back to our city to actively encourage opportunities and social interaction through the creation of a diverse, inclusive community based urban lofts.  

The project focus is creating architecture encouraging an active micro-community that is democratic and inclusive in spirit through integrating major programmatic elements of a shared green space, rooftop sky deck and vertical communal urban garden. 

Careful considerations were made for the placement of the lofts - positioned to create a generous private communal ground floor green space available for all residents. Additionally, another sustainable exterior component of the lofts is a collection of lifted horizontal planters that are available for residents.

The design ambition is to create a modern minimal open floor plan, clutter-free, fluid, expressive space of quality and craft. Program consists of a 10 foot wide linear, column free cantilevered porch that runs parallel to the side of the house for outdoor enjoyment - morning coffee, evening dinners. The interior of the house is filled with warm wood floors and functional built-in cabinetry millwork to contrast the modern streamline design. Skylights are embedded into the house to offer a dynamic sculptural volumetric quality. 

Orchestrates a balance of modern day lifestyle needs with modern aesthetics, calm simple material palette, light and transparency. 

 

This prototype is especially designed as a starter house for young professionals or retired individuals. Future prototypes will include 500 sf, 1500 sf, 2000 sf variations.

YEAR: 2016

A full remodel, creating an open floor plan of the existing dining, living and kitchen space. The living room has three angular skylights in a coffered ceiling that is carried from the living room into the kitchen. The three different articulated angles of the skylights create dynamic qualities. The patio space offers exterior views from all the important rooms of the house. Additionally, the living room space shares a framed view to the outdoor patio that serves as another light source. The variant light source directions fills the living room space to transform the volume throughout the day.

YEAR: 2022

A comfortable and welcoming residence crafted to emulate a resort feel. This two-story English manor style house is finished with modern craftsman interiors. The primary function for the first floor is to host entertainment events and holiday parties throughout the year. The second floor houses the private master suite with office, mini-bar, bedroom, a large walk-in-closet and master bathroom. The house features a motorshop hangout adjacent to a linear pool that connects back visually to the living room.
